The 1912 Solar Eclipse in Paris

On  April 17, 1912, 11.45 , Paris experienced a rare hybrid solar eclipse, transitioning from annular to total and back. This was the first total solar eclipse of the 20th century visible in France, captivating the public and inspiring scientific efforts like the Globule balloon launch by the Paris Observatory

To celebrate this historic event, From my collection,I’m sharing three stereoscopic images of the 1912 eclipse, offering a unique 3D perspective of this celestial phenomenon.

Le Minimus

The Minimus, probably the smallest known stereoscopic viewer. This rare French stereo viewer , likely from the late 19th om century, stands out for its high-quality optics and unique mechanical system, designed for 45×107 mm views. Needs a short repair on the missing back glass window.

 

 

Le Photo - Siècle

Step back in time with a rare gem of photographic history: a camera patented  in 1899, likely sold in 1900, crafted by the visionary Paul Cornu. Featuring both horizontal and vertical decentering capabilities, it reflects the precision and adaptability of its era.
